After trying flea collars, sprays and assorted grocery store flea products, I can honestly say that this Zodiac shampoo was the only product that took care of our dog's flea problem. The smell is not at all upleasant, the results were fantastic. After the first bath our dog was nearly flea free. A second bath got them all. I recommend this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Things got UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, February 4, 2010
This review is from: Veterinarian's Best Hot Spot Itch Relief Spray, 8oz (Misc.)
I got this to use on our dog's feet because we didn't want another large Vet bill. (We went to our Vet's for his feet about a week prior and the shot they gave him helped for a few days, but then it wore off. Which is why we bought the product.) We got this at a "local" chain pet store for a little off (due to a pricing mistake they found). We sprayed it on his feet and it seemed to help as well as it smelled good, but then the next morning things got ugly fast!

Our dog woke us up walking around with muscle tremors, acting wobly, and nausous. I frantically started searching on the internet about ingredient toxitity of this product since he had licked a tiny ammount off his feet the night before. I found that tea tree oil is toxic when ingested internally and can cause ataxia, weakness, muscle tremors, and lack coordination (here's some proof: [...]). We thought we were going to lose him for a while and I'm not usually freaked out about this kind of stuff since I work with... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, May 23, 2010

This review is from: Veterinarian's Best Hot Spot Itch Relief Spray, 8oz (Misc.)
Not only has this kept my itchy little dog from chewing the fur off his toes, I used this on a severely allergic rescue dog, whose entire body was covered in bright red, hot rashes, and within a day his rash went down by half. I will continue to buy this product and recommend it to others. I've even used this on myself, and it feels amazing - stops maddening itches nearly instantly!

I read one review that said their dog got very sick from licking this off, and that tea tree oil is toxic to dogs. While I have read that it can be, I'm pretty sure it's only in certain quantities that it becomes toxic, although obviously some dogs are more sensitive than others. I bathe my dogs in shampoo with tea tree and use Earthbath Tea Tree spray-on conditioner and have never had a problem, and have also never had a problem with a Vet's Best product.

Just my 2c!

This review is from: Veterinarian's Best Hot Spot Itch Relief Spray, 8oz (Misc.)
Maybe it's the winter blues, but my St. Bernard (Zelda) started a hot spot on her hind leg that seemed to "blow up" over night and covered the entire rear thigh portion. Through trial and error, here's what I did to treat this hot spot and others that "pop up" from nowhere:

#1: Shave the hair away from the hot spot (you don't have to "bald" the area, but the skin does need to breathe)(home clippers do the trick---be sure to take apart and clean those clippers w/alcohol, then oil, when finished).

#2: I use this product. It does seem to bring instant relief. It is strong smelling, but if it helps her get instant relief I will use it. It's better smelling than the #3 home remedy that I use. (P.S. You can spray the air w/the Odo Ban sold on this web site to freshen up the house when finished playing "voodoo" doctor on your dog).

#3: Home remedy: In a pint size mason jar I mix 2 vials of golden seal, approximately 20-25 drops of tea tree oil and... Read more

This review is from: Trifexis : 6 Month Supply : Heartworm + Fleas : For Dogs 40.1 - 60 Lbs (Misc.)
I have two Basset Hounds and both took the Trifexis and within minutes the female thru it up along with her meal. My male kept it down but I still saw fleas on him days later. I attempted the pills again a month later figureing I would try one more time, and AGAIN my Female thru it up. I am switching back to Frontline Plus for Fleas and Heartguard for heartworms. They say the pills are "chewable" but neither of my dogs wanted to chew them and they are BASSETS they will eat anything...EVERYTHING. Heartguard Chews are so much easier to give them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooray! It works!, February 15, 2012
This review is from: Fiproguard Fiproguard Topical Flea and Tick for Cats, All Weights (Misc.)
I'll admit it...I'm frugal. When my kitty started scratching and I noticed fleas (for the first time in her 16 years!) I researched flea meds are was COMPLETELY shocked at the price! I found this seemingly too good to be true Fiproguard for a fraction of the price of the best reviwed products. I was sceptical, of course, but after some research I found out why it was so cheap! Fiproguard is the "generic" formula of Frontline. I ordered a box, and 2 days later I applied the med to kitty. The application was easy, but the med did smell rather medicinal and seemed oily. From other reviews, it seems this is normal though. By the end of the day, kitty was scratching less. By the end of the second day, I didn't see any more fleas on her! After a good brushing, I found many dead fleas on her, but zero living ones. It's now been 3 weeks and kitty is still free from fleas and stopped scratching. I'm thrilled that a product worked so well for such a decent price!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Generic Frontline and You Need a Mosquito repellent for the dog., January 28, 2012

This review is from: Fiproguard Fiproguard Topical Flea and Tick for Cats, All Weights (Misc.)
First---the price of Frontline-the original Fipronil-is obscene, especially in a multi-cat household. Second, there's something wrong with Frontline's formulation. Vets and friends agree that Frontline no longer works, but the generic Fiprogard does. Frontline is produced in France by Merial. After two years of fighting fleas with cat baths, bombing, and Frontline applications, we disovered the generic works. Try Fiproguard if Frontline has failed you.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT A FLEA INFESTATION: The house should be HOT because fleas will go dormant in the cold. VACUUM the entire house, especially around the edges. The vibration of the vacuum with cause the flea eggs to hatch. Then treat the area with a spray product from your vet. Then vacuum again and again. Repeat. In the meantime, you need to bathe the cats before they are allowed into the vacummed areas. I will never attempt this again--bathing FIVE cats? oh my gosh, what a horror.

Regarding DOGS--dont' use... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly the same as Frontline Plus, June 13, 2012
By
This review is from: Fiproguard Fiproguard Topical Flea and Tick for Cats, All Weights (Misc.)
I have been using Fiproguard Plus for all of our cats and dogs which are outside and inside since the generic came out. I can tell no difference in this vs Frontline Plus. It has controlled fleas and ticks on all 5 animals perfectly. You have to get the solution on the skin or it will not work. I squeeze it on then scratch it in with my fingernails and they never even know they have medicine on! It is perfect and the price is even more perfect compared to the name brand.
